Swimsuit Season Is Coming

Can you feel the weather getting warmer? Are you awakening every morning to the birds of spring? Do you notice all of the beautiful wild flowers starting to take hold in the hills around you? Spring is here and soon it will be summer time. And you know what that means?
Ah summer! The days of BBQ’s, long evening walks, steamy nights and trips to the lake, beach or shore. And that means that the swim suit season is right around the corner. Does that get you excited or is it a little stressful? It’s OK. We are all human. We all want to look our best yet many of us also wanted that chocolate the other night or the extra slices of pizza last week. Most people pack on a few extra pounds over the winter months – even if you live in California.
Whether you are fighting a life of obesity or simply dreading the fact that you let your guard down this winter and packed on an extra 5, 10 or 15 pounds, the summer months will still be here in a flash. But do not despair; there is still plenty of time to get your ship shaped up in time to set sail. I’m not talking about the latest insanity diet to drop 30 pounds in 30 days. I’m talking about some simple mental shifts to help you on your weight loss journey – a journey that we believe can be a smooth and joyous process. It really can be!
You see, if you thought of yourself as the slim and healthy looking person that you long to be – if that is how you saw yourself today (even though you really are not there yet), your subconscious mind would grab a hold of that new image and your life and the world around you would play out consistent with that image: you would begin to think of yourself as this new person; this new person that wanted the slimmer body more than the candy bar. This new person that gets excited about exercising and increasing your activity levels instead of savoring couch time. It is all in that simple mental shift – seeing yourself as slim and healthy and holding that vision so that you prioritize things that are in line with your vision.

Is it really that simple? It really is. Of course, there will be temptations along the way and you may take two steps forward and one step backwards but that still adds up to momentum and your weight loss journey. You have the power and authority over your weight and shape. It’s called empowerment. You have the ability to embrace hunger and to change how you eat. We are all wired for success.
