The Most Important Thing in Weight Loss?

You can ask just about anyone this question and most people know the answer. The most important thing in weight loss is …drum roll please…..Motivation.
Sure, diet and exercise play a big part. But the reality is that it is NOT about The How – your weight loss solutions lie in The Why. That’s right: It’s not about The How To, it’s a bout The Why.
It doesn’t matter if you drive 20 minutes to the club each day or if you have an exercise room in your home – if your ‘why’ is not grounded you will never achieve your goal. It doesn’t matter if you eat raisins or starve yourself – if your ‘why’ is not crystal clear, your journey will be too difficult.
If you are not clear on the reasons behind your journey, the obstacles along the way will bog you down. The ‘why’ is what allows you to overcome the fear, uncertainty and doubt (better known as FUD) that will invariably hit you along the way.
And there is one other element to ‘why’ that we would like to suggest. That is ‘The Where’. As in ‘where’ are you trying to get to. As in, what exactly will you look like once you lose the weight. If you are not clear on your ‘where’, you will have to rely on your why to an extreme degree – and even then that will not be enough. Because if you know exactly what your ‘where’ will look like, you will have the confidence with knowing that you can get there. If you are clear on where you want to go, the world will open up to you consistent with that vision.
It’s just like any other worthy goal in life. You need to know where you want to get to. Virtually every self help course talks about the need to have a vision – to have a vision and to keep that vision at the center of your attention. As you focus on the prize, your mental powers (both your conscious and subconscious minds) will come to your aid. They will allow the world to open up to you consistent with your vision.
What does that mean? It may mean that you will start to realize new and exciting things in your immediate surroundings. Perhaps you all of a sudden realize that there is a fresh alternative for healthy eating right near your home or office that you simply did not pay attention to previously. Perhaps the fitness center down the street will actually appear to you as a viable option for once.
Perhaps you will meet new and interesting people who share your new, fresher energy – those very people that were there all along but you never noticed to care or to reach out to them because they did not align with your perception of yourself.
Well now that you have a new vision of yourself, the world opens up to you consistent with that vision. That is exciting and powerful. And if you have a strong ‘why’ to back you up, nothing can stop you. The How To will simply be the road you take, your destination and your motivation will be set in stone.
