Dieting is Dead

Dieting is Dead

Dieting is not any more dead than paper in the office. There is good news on both fronts though. Many people are starting to recognize that most diets start with losing weight, include significant suffering and end with weight gain. And in the corporate world, many firms are embracing electronic imaging as a way to get rid of paper.

New diets come out all of the time and the classics maintain a presence across the landscape of the weight loss industry. I doubt that will change any time soon. But as for your weight loss journey, you would be well served to dismiss the concept of dieting altogether. By its mere name dieting signifies a short term approach – the name itself implies that it last for only a specific period of time. Dieting does not work; not for most folks. Statistics prove the point.

My Diet Doesn't Work
What does work? Small, incremental changes that are sustained. Changes in lifestyle. Changes in habits and behaviors; not for the short term finish line but for the life long journey.

“95% of diets fail” is a long standing statistic in the weight loss industry. It is more folklore than bona fide statistic although it has been proven in multiple studies over a number of decades. The reality is that most diets are over-hyped and over-promised so the expectation is so high that the customer becomes disillusioned if they do not get a similar result – which rarely happens as the small print usually reads something along the lines of “your mileage may vary”.

People need change in their lives and anyone selling a quick fix is usually trying to get rich quick. Snake oil is not going to make you slim and healthy. Neither are the majority of diets on the market. The reality is that the only way for you to become slim and healthy is to make some simple mental shifts. By changing your expectation and perceptions, not just of yourself but of the world around you, you are able to see yourself and others in a different light. Food begins to take on a different meaning and your relationship with eating and activity begins to transform.

Weight Loss EMPOWERMENT is a powerful process of recognizing the weight and shape that you aspire toward achieving. As you recognize it you begin to be grateful for having already achieved it. As your mind (conscious and subconscious) becomes galvanized to your new image, the world begins to open up to you in new and exciting ways.
