#1 Know how you are going to look AFTER you lose the weight - you will be amazed how this simple mental shift will excite, inspire, motivate and yes, EMPOWER you on your weight loss journey.

#2 Stop being triggered by all of the external impressions in your day and regularly remind yourself of how you are going to look AFTER you lose the weight. A trigger is nothing more than a thought. And there are thousands of them in your day. You will never achieve your weight loss goal if you cannot resolve to deal with triggers. Simply move on to another thought - preferably, a thought of how you are going to look AFTER you lose the weight.

#3 Develop some urgency and energy (losing weight is about increasing your metabolism so implement some energy into your day - it will feed itself and you will feel better. As you express more energy in your life, you will develop more energy for your life.

#4 Rethink how you are eating - a little planning and discipline here can go a long way (and just like when you add urgency and energy to your day - it feeds off of itself - the small changes you make will provide you momentum on your journey. This is true whether you are accustomed to eating at home, dining out or constantly doing take-out. Rethink and plan.

#5 Reward yourself - this is important. Look, you've got a photo revised to show you looking slim and healthy, you keep that at the center of your attention to help maintain your focus and discipline, you are improving your pace at life and you are working on consuming better food - SO REWARD YOURSELF. Go ahead - buy a new pair of active shoes, a bright colored pair of shorts, something fun and exciting.

#6 Reconsider your peer group. Ultimately in life, we all perform to the expectations of our peer group. Don't take those first 5 steps and then succumb to the same old same old. Think about how you are going to look AFTER you lose the weight - do you REALLY see THAT person hanging out with the people you presently suffer along? Really?

#7 Get excited. It is time that YOU started to believe that YOU are going to be SUCCESSFUL on YOUR weight loss journey. How many diets or exercise programs have you tried? Countless right? Well, now you are on a path where you are going to get where you are going - get excited about it. Give thanks for that energy and the wisdom that you are developing around food and for the discipline that you are applying in areas where you could not before.

#8 Challenge yourself. The steps you've taken so far are good steps. And a few short days or weeks ago they seemed like mountain steps. But now, you look back and realize that YOU were in control that whole time and that you were capable of those steps. Now it is time to rethink YOUR capacity for change. You've already let go of your old image. You are embracing your new image. Now you need to get real about your own capacity for change and REALIZE that you are capable of massive change - massive weight loss. And AGAIN, it can be a smooth and joyous process. You are changing who you are. And that means that the world will open up to you in new and exciting ways..

#9 Be confident. Now you've outlined some new, aggressive, big, bold actions and goals. Wow. wouldn't it be great if you could achieve them? You can but only if you believe that you can. Be confident.

#10 Socialize with your NEW peer group. This is a growth step and most of it is mental. You need to reach out to your world and identify with the peer group that you deserve. Find someone active in your life. Find someone who cares about eating healthy. Join a group. Go to a meeting. Let go of your old habits and thoughts and join the WINNERS' circle.

You deserve this new peer group and these new people deserve you. You have more to give them than they will give you so be confident as you reach out to this new group. Because your path and your story is going to inspire others who need your help - your weight loss journey has a purpose much larger than you can possibly imagine. It is destiny and you are creating it.
